(Business in Cameroon) - At 31 December 2015, the Société Camerounaise des Palmeraies (Socapalm), a company listed on the Douala Stock Exchange (DSX), had a net income of FCfa 5.8 billion, according to the annual report of Socfinaf SA, the group owning 67% of the shareholding of Socapalm, including 62.9% through the holding Palcam. This net income is in slight decrease compared to the FCfa 5.9 billion taken in 2014.

According to the same report, the global turnover of this agro-industrial company rather increased last year, at approximately FCfa 51 billion. This represents an increase in absolute value of close to FCfa 6 billion compared to 2014.

After analysis, these turnovers are the result of the performances on the palm oil segment, whose production and sale increased in 2015. Indeed, we learned, Socapalm produced 103,728 tons of palm oil in 2015, against 95,505 tons in 2014. The average selling prices of this product also increased last year, at FCfa 484.7 per kg, against FCfa 451.9 in 2014.

Though having achieved substantial increases in 2015 in terms of production (from 324 tons in 2014 to 860 tons last year), the performances in the rubber section at Socapalm were undermined by very unattractive selling prices. The average selling price per kilogramme thus dropped from FCfa 412.6 in 2014, to FCfa 366.8 in 2015.
