(Business in Cameroon) - According to the National Cocoa and Coffee Board (ONCC), 6,666 tonnes of Cameroonian cocoa were exported in August 2014 – the first month of the 2014-2015 cocoa season. The same source goes on to indicate that exports are up by 500 tonnes compared to the same period the previous season.

One also notes that inaugural exports have exceeded the stock that remained in stores from the previous season, stock estimated to be close to 5,000 tonnes by the ONCC.

The last cocoa season in Cameroon produced 206,550 tonnes – a 9% decline relative to the 2012-2013 season. On September 30, the Cameroonian government officially adopted a cocoa-coffee sector recovery plan. With a budget of 600 billion FCFA, the plan aims to achieve 600,000 tonnes of production by 2020.
