(Business in Cameroon) - For a week now, the farm gate price of one kilogram of cocoa has been FCfa 1,580 in Cameroon, according to statistics compiled   by the Sector Information System (Système d’information des filières - SIF in French), which allows the operators of the sector to be informed in real time and on a daily basis of the movements of the market price.

As is the case since the end of the last season, the average minimum producer price has been stalling at FCfa 1,500, the same statistics inform. This upturn could be explained by the dry season which will extend till mid-March, and gives a better access to production areas by buyers.

During the current season (2015-2016), Cameroon is expecting a drop in production of approximately 20,000 tons, due to the dormant phase of the cocoa trees, which according to experts occurs every 5 years.
