(Business in Cameroon) - The South African agro-foods company, Tiger Brands described the performance by its Cameroonian subsidiary, Chococam (Chocolaterie et confiserie du Cameroun) as “exceptional” for the fiscal year ending in September 2014.

Indeed, the South African company’s Central African cluster, which is led by its Cameroonian subsidiary, made 660 million South African rand (around 31.5 billion FCFA at a constant exchange rate).

Apart from Nigeria and South Africa, which are major markets for Tiger Brands, other regions of Africa also did well, but with growth rates that were considered “excellent”. In Central Africa, Chococam has made significant inroads into all of its market segments.

Chadians’ contribution to Chococam’s success was considerable and has continued to increase sales volume. Among the company’s bestselling products are Matinal cocoa powder and spreads and a series of other products that are in a tight competition with imported goods.
