(Business in Cameroon) - The Yaoundé-Nsimalen motorway will not be delivered in May 2017 as initially expected. Due to the delays in the project management, particularly the conflicts which peppered the release of the rights of way by the neighbouring populations, the 10-km long open countryside stretch has only been completed at 63% until now, based on the estimated of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing.
This section is built by a Chinese company called China Communications Construction Company Ltd, for FCfa 36.7 billion. The urban stretch of this motorway was awarded to three companies. These are Synohydro (5.8 km), China Road and Bridge Corporation (1.9 km) and Arab Contractors (2.1 km).
Long of 20 km in total, the Yaoundé-Nsimalen motorway should globally cost FCfa 154 billion. This road infrastructure will enable to better service the Cameroonian capital’s airport.
