(Business in Cameroon) - During 2016, a total of 310 km of roads were asphalted in Cameroon by the government, the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, revealed. This statistic represents a third of the roads the government is planning to surface in 2017.

Indeed, while presenting the economic, social and cultural programme of the government to the Parliament on 22 November 2016, the Prime Minister, Philémon Yang, announced that close to 1,000 km of road would be asphalted throughout Cameroon this year.

In detail, Philémon Yang specified that the government would work, within its public investment budget (PIB), supported by funding from external partners, at surfacing 250 km of new road. There would be an additional 677 km of road to asphalt as part of the emergency three-year plan.
