(Business in Cameroon) - In a statement published in the government daily’s July 21, 2014 edition, the Tradex trading company, a subsidiary of Société nationale des hydrocarbures (SNH), indicated that it has created “a thousand jobs” in eight years – a timeframe that represents the length of its existence in the oil product distribution market in Cameroon.

With 50 service stations in Cameroon and over 20 more in the Central African Republic and in Chad, Tradex quickly became the nationals’ main distribution force for oil products at the pump, not only in Cameroon, but also in the CEMAC zone. This position initially earned in trading and bunkering helped in April 2013 along with entering domestic gas distribution.

In 2013, the company announced 26% growth relative to 2012 as well as a 31% increase in its net result. According to experts from the Cameroonian oil sector, Tradex is the main agent behind the nationals’ market share growth in oil product distribution in Cameroon – shares which went from “5 to 20% in a few years,” according to the Managing Director of Total Cameroon, the market leader.
