(Business in Cameroon) - Created by a presidential decree on 8 October 2015, the Société de Transport d’Électricité (Sonatrel - Electricity Transport Company), a public company which will be in charge of the "transport of the electrical energy, on behalf of the State", now has a Board. According to texts on this matter published on 5 February 2015 by the Head of State, Paul Biya, this Board will be chaired by Basile Atangana Kouna (photo), current Cameroonian Minister of Energy and Water. .

Within this 11-person strong team (the Staff representative has yet to be appointed) nominated by the Head of State, apart from the representatives of different public administrations, are also present representatives of the electricity production and distribution companies operating in Cameroon..

The appointment of the first ever Managing Director of this company is still pending, as this person will be concretely in charge of "the operation, maintenance and development of the public electricity transport network and its interconnections with other networks; the management of the flux of electrical energy transiting through the public transport network; the planning, undertaking of studies and infrastructure projects and electricity transport works, as well as searching for and managing the related fundings; etc."»
