“(Business in Cameroon) - The MA 60 are operational”. This is what can be read on marketing posters rolled out these past days throughout the Cameroonian capital, announcing the maiden flight of one of its two Chinese aircraft purchased by the Cameroonian State for Camair Co, the public airline, on 23 January 2016.
The publicity campaign organised on the maiden flights of these aircraft comes after the dismissal of Pierre Tankam from the position of Managing Director of the Aviation Authority, due to his refusal to issue certificates for these Chinese aircraft deemed unreliable by some. Accusations rejected by the government and its Chinese partners at Avic International.
The commissioning of the two MA 60 received in April 2015 will bring to five the fleet of aircraft of Camair Co. According to the government authorities and the managers of this public airline, these planes will be used exclusively for domestic routes.
