(Business in Cameroon) - Allow the population and Cameroonian authorities to discover, or even test models of Chinese vehicles which will soon be assembled in the town of Kribi, in the South region of the country, by a joint venture Chinese-Cameroonian company Cameroon Automotive Holding. This is, according to the organisers, the main stated goal of the China Cameroon Auto Show, an exhibition that opened on 20 April 2017 at the Sports Centre of Yaoundé, the capital.

Until 26 April 2017, on display there are 20 vehicles of different ranges, that came straight from China. There are saloon cars, pick-up trucks, mini-buses, 4x4 vehicles and tractors. All these vehicles and other machines will soon be assembled locally in Cameroon, thanks to an agreement signed on 11 June 2015 in Yaoundé, in order to set up two vehicle assembly units in the cities of Douala, the economic capital, and Kribi, seaside city in the South that houses the biggest port infrastructure of Cameroon.

This project benefits from the law of 2013 encouraging private investment in Cameroon, which grants fiscal and customs exonerations to companies for a period from 5 to 10 years, during the installation as well as the production phases. About 4620 direct jobs should be created during the 15 years of activity of the two above-mentioned assembly units. The total amount of investments is officially estimated at FCfa 92 billion.
