(Business in Cameroon) - On February 15, 2018, Paul Biya granted an audience to Günter Nooke, the personal representative of Angela Merkel in Africa. The meeting which took place in Yaoundé was to explore ways to strenghthen the cooperation between Germany and Cameroon.
At the end of the audience which lasted for about an hour, Günter Nooke explained to the press that this meeting followed the European Union/African Union summit which was held on November 29-30, 2017 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
In accordance with the resolution taken during the summit, three priority sectors are at the center of the relations between the two countries. The first area is the sustainable management of natural resources to protect the fauna. Indeed, some species such as elephants are repeatedly hunted by poachers.
The second area is decentralization. The German emissary announced that his country was available to help Cameroon in that regard.
