(Business in Cameroon) - Construction work of the Lom Pangar dam power plant was officially launched on 16 July 2017 in the region of East Cameroon, attended by the President of the African Development Bank group, Nigerian Akinwumi A. Adesina, whose institution provided financing for the realisation of this infrastructure.

With an electricity production capacity of 30 MW, construction of the power plant of the largest dam in Cameroon will last 30 months, and allow the electrification of 150 areas in the region of East Cameroon. The works are being undertaken by the company China CAMC Engineering.

The launch of these works occurs slightly more than two weeks after the handing over to the Cameroonian authorities, last 30 June, of this dam with an intake capacity of 6 billion cubic meters of water. According to electricity company ENEO, this energy infrastructure has allowed Cameroon to weather the calmest dryweather in the last ten years.
