(Business in Cameroon) - Adolphe Moudiki, Administrator and Managing Director of the Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH), announced that the company First Service Sarl based in Douala won a FCfa 44.7 million contract to carry out the repair works on the erosion cases observed under the easement of the Bipaga 1 pipeline, close to Kribi.

The company First Service Sarl has three months to execute this contract on the pipeline in this field used in 2014 to supply the first vehicles powered with natural pressurised gas (NPG) in Cameroon. It is also by this site that barrels of oil produced on the Mvia field have been discharged by tank trucks since 24 November 2013. These products are stocked on the tanker Lobé, on Kribi offshore, before being sold by Sonara.

The Bipaga field is important for SNH as it is the only site at the moment where vehicles powered by NPG are recharged. It appears from the tests previously undertaken that said vehicles have a gas range of 150 km. When the journey is longer, they automatically switch to conventional fuel. Ultimately, SNH and its partner Perenco want to generate interest from investors for this technology already spread throughout the world, including Africa. Because, it has the advantage of being less polluting than the use of conventional fuels, and generally cheaper.
