(Business in Cameroon) - Based on Cameroon’s indebtedness strategy document for the 2017-2019 period, the outstanding public debt of the country will be fully paid after 2067 with regards to the foreign debt and 2032 for the internal debt.

The analysis of this document shows that the repayment peak will reach close to FCfa 600 billion for the internal debt. This will be between 2023 and 2024. The foreign debt repayment peak will reach FCfa 400,000 over the same period. The National Committee in charge of the sector, suggests in this strategy that Cameroon’s public debt remains viable over 20 years. But with an over-indebtedness risk, which though moderated, calls for further diversification in export products”.

But already during 2017, approximately FCfa 540 billion will be repaid by Cameroon. Including FCfa 170 billion as foreign debt, and FCfa 360 billion as internal debt. With FCfa 110 billion in VAT credit refunds.
