(Business in Cameroon) - After a break which generally extends between the months of August and September each year, which provides a biological recovery period to the fish, fishing is again open on the Maga Lake, a large water body covering 360 m2 in the town of the same name, located in the Extreme-North region of Cameroon.

During the official season opening ceremony, which took place on 10 October 2016, the administrative authorities reminded the fishermen of the necessity of using the regulatory material and equipment, in order to ensure a sustainable management of the fishing resources in this lake mainly used to irrigate Semry’s rice paddies.

In order for Maga fishermen to increase their production, which officially peaks at approximately 2,000 tons every year, the mayor of this town wished for the government to work toward implementing the local fingerling production station.
