(Business in Cameroon) - Convened by Idriss Deby Itno, president of the Republic of Chad and current acting president of the Central African Economic and Monetary Union Community (Cemac), a special session of the conference of Heads of States of the community will be held on October 31, 2017, in the Chadian capital.

This session falls as the term of the actual executive committee of the Cemac, which is led by the Congolese Pierre Moussa, comes to its end. “Hence, the appointment of new executives for some institutions within the community, financing issues and the consolidation of integration achievements will be discussed at the session,” official sources revealed.

In accordance with the conclusions of the 13th ordinary session of the conference of Heads of States of the Community held in Equatorial Guinea on February 17, 2017, the former Gabon’s Prime Minister Daniel Ona Ondo is to replace Pierre Moussa. During the ordinary session, Gabon’s actual Prime Minister Emmanuel Issoze Ngondet had indicated that “Pr. Daniel Ona Ondo will have to successfully manage the perennial problem of free movements of people and goods within the Cemac because this was strongly voiced by all the Heads of States present at Djibloho”.

Prior to the announced special session, the council of ministers of Central African Economic Union will be held on October 29, 2017.
