(Business in Cameroon) - At 27 years, Achiri Arnold Nji, a young electrical engineering graduate, decided to bring a technological contribution to the fight for road safety in Cameroon. Through his start-up Next Star Developpers, he launched about three years ago an application to track drivers, who stand out on the road through their excessive speed, bad overtaking and other illegal parking.

Named SafeTraveler, this application which can be downloaded from the web works without internet connection. Achiri Arnold Nji’s invention enables the user to geolocate vehicles and their passengers, to be able to alert the relevant authorities if there is any problem.

Interviewed by Le Point Afrique on the development prospects for his initiative, the young start-up owner now dreams of growing his business. “Our biggest hope is to build a technical centre to test and monitor vehicles. For transport services to use the SafeTraveler platform to track their vehicles, whether as our partners or not, would be a win” for road safety in Cameroon, he confided.
