A presidential decree of July 31, 2013 opened an Honorary Consulate of Cameroon in Hamburg, Federal Republic of Germany. According to the decision, the Honorary Consulate covers Lander Hamburg, Bremen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Niedersachsen and Schleswig-Holstein. It is under the jurisdiction of the Embassy of Cameroon in the Federal Republic of Germany (Berlin).
Honorary consuls represent Cameroon in the territories where they are found. They are responsible for ensuring the protection of Cameroonians in Germany and can issue administrative documents such as visa to enter Cameroon. However, their responsibilities are clearly defined by law and in some cases refer to the Consulate General in Berlin.
This new Honorary Consul will add to Dr. Hans Walter, Honorary Consul in Essen (Germany) and Walter Ebbinghaus, Honorary Consul in Hanau (Germany).
