Cameroonian Cabinet reshuffle: PM stays, 11 Ministers out

(Business in Cameroon) - Cameroon’s president, Paul Biya, proceeded on 2 October 2015, to a cabinet reshuffle. Whilst keeping Philémon Yand as his Prime Minister, the head of state laid off eleven ministers. Subsequent substantial portfolio changes as well as new arrivals in the governmental staff are noticeable. Indeed, there is for example the reinstatement of Louis Paul Motazé and Bidoung Nkpatt at the heads of the Economy and Sport ministries respectively, or the arrival of Joseph Beti Assomo at the head of Defense Ministry (during a relentless fight against Boko Haram) which was previously under the direction of Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo’o who has now been transferred to the Ministry of Transport..

Meanwhile, Ama Tutu Muna, embroiled in governmental as well as legal squabbles involving copyrights issues, was sacked from government. Idem for Agriculture’s Essimi Menyé, Bapes Bapes which was imprisoned for 24 hours a few months ago, Public Works’s Amba Salla, Transport’s Robert Nkili, Telecom’s Biyiti bi Essam or Moukoko Mbonjo of the External Relations Ministry… Presented below is an overview from Business in Cameroon.
