(Business in Cameroon) - Louis Bapes Bapes, ex-Minister of Secondary Education in Cameroon, dismissed in October 2015 after a brief stay of 24 hours at the central prison of Kondengui in April, will not be present during his next hearing at the Special Criminal Court (TCS - Tribunal Criminel Spécial), a court of special jurisdiction prosecuting public fund embezzlers.

Indeed, Louis Bapes Bapes, who had been ill for several months, died this 5 February 2015 at the general hospital of Yaoundé, the capital, we learned from various sources. Managing Director of the Mission d’Aménagement et de Gestion des Zones Industrielles (Magzi - Industrial Areas Development and Management Mission) for 30 years (1974-2004), Louis Bapes Bapes was prosecuted for alleged embezzlement of public funds at the Ministry of Secondary Education.

As a reminder, Cathérine Abena, who was State Secretary in the same Ministry under Louis Bapes Bapes, had been arrested several months earlier, then jailed for the same reasons. She also passed away a few months ago following an illness.
