Cameroon: PAD initiates the replacement of DIT 2 years before the end of its concession

(Business in Cameroon) - On January 12, 2018, Cyrus Ngo’o, managing director of Douala autonomous port (PAD), has issued an international call for expression of interest in order to preselect the port operators which would participate in “the restricted tender for the renovation, modernization, exploitation and maintenance of the container terminal at Douala- Bonabéri port”.

The call for expression of interest represents the initiation of the replacement of the consortium Bolloré-APMT, the main shareholder of Douala International Terminal (DIT) which has been managing the port since 2005. The particularity of call resides, however, the fact that it has been issued 2 years before the conclusion of the concession attributed to the said consortium.

There are things which need to be corrected even before the end of the concession”, an internal source at the port said tersely to justify the call.

Since January 1, 2005, the container terminal of Douala-Bonabéri port is managed and exploited by Douala International Terminal. In 2015, it handled about 280 20-foot containers”, the document published by the PAD revealed. The document also informed of the creation of a second container terminal in the port.
