Cameroon win the women's African volleyball championship for the first time

(Business in Cameroon) - Last weekend, in Yaoundé, Cameroon’s capital, the national women volleyball team beat Kenya, during the final of the women’s African volleyball championship. With this victory, Cameroon thus became the 5th country to win the championship for which Kenya has been 9 times the winner. The four other countries are Egypt, Tunisia, Seychelles, and Kenya.

The national team won by a 3 sets to none thus being the first team to beat Kenya, the favorite team, which till then had not lost a set since the start of this championship.

Cameroon is now qualified for the volleyball world cup which will be held in Japan, in 2018. What is more, 3 of Cameroon’s players are among the 6 major players in this competition and Laeticia Moma Bassoko, who was particularly good during the championship, was the best player of the competition.
