Cameroon: Call for tenders to study the possibilities of servicing rural areas not covered by telecoms operators

(Business in Cameroon) - ART, the regulatory body in the telecoms sector in Cameroon, has just sent a restricted call for tenders to three local consultancies, to carry out technical and economic studies to service rural areas not covered within the bill of specifications given to telecoms operators working in the country.

In practical terms, we learn, these studies will roughly consist in presenting the geographical and logistical constraints linked to servicing the areas with no coverage; assess the volume and nature of the demand in minimum electronic communication service throughout the country; determine and expand on the most economical technologies to be implemented to service these areas.

Ultimately, this is about formulating practical recommendations for the implementation of networks through the sharing of infrastructure and optic fibre in rural areas…

The consultancies LMT Group Axess, Matrix Telecom and Resytal SA, shortlisted for this service, have until 11 October 2016 at 12 noon, to present their offer to the Market Unit of the Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ART).
