Orange Cameroon rejects CFA1.6 billion invoice from CAMTEL

(Business in Cameroon) - Orange Cameroon reacted to an invoice of CFA1.6 billion handed by Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel) after the latter restricted its access to fiber optic data on October 6, 2017.

On October 8, Cameroon’s subsidiary of the French group Orange declared: “It (Orange) fulfills all of its contractual obligations and, till date, it has no unpaid invoices from its partner (CAMTEL)”. The telecommunication operator thus continues: “Disputes and contentions may arise in every relationship, commercial relationships included”. But, orange think that those disputes and contentions must be dealt with in good cooperation according to the country’s legal provisions and regulations.

Despite this bickering between Orange and Camtel, Orange noticed that its access to optical fiber was restored later on October 7. It also noted that the proper operation of its services which suffered disruptions earlier on.
