(Business in Cameroon) - Between 2 October and 16 December 2016, 89.6% of inhabitants in the cities of Douala, Yaoundé, Bamenda and Bafoussam watched the television. Representing 3.3 million viewers, according to the statistics published on 8 February by the French leader in media studies,Médiamétrie.

Local channels CRTV (public) and Canal 2 (private) were the most watched with a daily viewership between 1 and 3 million from Monday to Sunday. This respectively ahead of foreign channels Novelas TV, Trace Africa, France 24 and TF1. Cameroonian television channels Equinoxe and Vision 4, and the foreign channels Euronews, Info sport, Nina TV share, in this order, between 200,000 and 400,000 viewers.

Over the same period, on average, 69.2% of inhabitants in douala, Yaoundé, Bamenda and Bafoussam (2.6 million) listened to the radio for 2 hours and 46 minutes on average per day and per person. CRTV radio is heading alone this segment with between one and two million listeners. RFI, Balafon FM and CRTV FM, respectively, were followed by 200,000 to 1 million listeners. These media are followed in order by Equinoxe FM, FM 94 (CRTV Yaoundé), Magic FM, Sweet FM, Radio Bonne Nouvelle, CRTV Bamenda, BBC World Service Africa, CRTV Centre. Number of listeners: Between 100,000 and 200,000.

Regarding social networks, 68.7% of Cameroonians aged 15 and over are registered on at least one social networks. This represents an increase of 4.1 point compared to the first half of 2016. Facebook is the social network with the highest number or registered users, ahead of Google+, Instagram and Twitter.
