A memorandum of understanding (Mou) was signed July 17, 2013 between the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Jean Pierre Biyiti Bi Essam, and Phillipe Recco, representing the Orange group accompanied by Jean Bardet, CEO of Orange Cameroon on an ACE (Africa Coast to Europe) cable landing point in the town of Kribi.
By June 2014, the submarine cable will increase Internet speed in Cameroon and other countries of Central Africa, and lower the cost of access to electronic communication.
The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications and the Orange Cameroon Company are committed to working closely for the effective implementation of the landing point to end the problems of electronic communication in Cameroon and the Central Africa sub-region especially for countries without a coastline, the government said in a statement last week.
