(Business in Cameroon) - Monique OuliNdongo, Secretary General at the Ministry of Livestock made the stunning revelation, at a workshop on re-orientation methods for boosting production in the fishing and livestock sectors, saying that tons of milk will also be imported by 2018.
Till date these sectors produced only 267,000 tons while national demand stands at 348,000 tons, add it up and there is a deficit of 81,000 tons, imported to make up but creating a negative balance of payment.
With this level of production, supply is at 12.3kg of meat/individual/year, and 9kg of milk, against a demand of 15.3kg and 14.5kg respectively.
