(Business in Cameroon) - The American group Karismaat Corp would like to buy 1,500 tons of robusta coffee from Synergie Nord Sud (SNS). This was announced by Cameroon’s economy minister in the letter of intent he associated with a distribution agreement.

Mansa Product Sénégal also sent letters of intent, to SNS, for the order of 648 tons, 713 tons and 784 tons to be respectively delivered in the three coming years. SNS also received letters of intent from Café Touba International from Dakar which would like to order 1,000 tons of coffee in 2018. This makes a total order of 4,645 tons of coffee.

Let’s be reminded that in January 2018, the ministry of economy signed a MoU for about CFA900 million with SNS. This support was in the framework of the ministry’s choice to support operators of the private sector in Cameroon in order to boost local transformation of raw materials. With the fund, Synergie Nord Sud bought a more performing roasting unit, thus increasing its roasting capacity from 1ton per hour to 4 tons hourly.  According to Aimé Njiakin, the developer of SNS, thanks to this new production unit, SNS will become the leader of coffee roasting in Cameroon. The goal here is to transform 7,000 tons of coffee yearly and by doing so, create about 500 direct jobs and 6,600 indirect jobs.
