(Business in Cameroon) - In Cameroon, the ministry of agriculture plans to provide equipment with which residents of Kribi and its neighbouring areas can produce up to 100,000 plants of plantain, official sources reveal. With these plants, farmers can go into large-scale plantain production.

The product’s promotion falls within the framework of a project aimed at creating an agricultural belt around Kribi that hosts the country’s largest port.

By end 2019, 250 young people are to be trained thanks to this project. They will then receive up to XAF3 million in funding to develop their agro-pastoral activities.

Let’s note that according to the ministry of agriculture, the budget for this 5-year project is XAF5 billion.
