(Business in Cameroon) - On April 12, 2018, Nestlé Cameroon inaugurated a new milk products production unit (that could produce more than 5,500 tons yearly) in its production site in Douala.
According to Thomas Caso, director of Nestlé Cameroon, twelve direct jobs were created thanks to this new unit whose construction required CFA2.7 billion. Also, in the coming years, 48 more jobs could be created because of this unit.
This infrastructure will help boost the production of Nido Forti Choco, a new product (whose components are milk powder, cocoa and sugar) launched by the company in 2016.
“Having invested about CFA20 billion since it was established in the country in 2010, Nestlé will remain Cameroon’s reliable partner in its ambition to become an emerging country by 2035”, the director indicated.
The minister of industry Ernest Gbwaboubou who welcomed this investment in Agro-business (the leading sector on which the industrialization plan currently being implemented in Cameroon is focused on) indicated that the new plant benefited from the incentives provided by the law of April 2013 on private investment incentives in Cameroon.
Let’s remind that according to this law, companies either being established or already producing are granted tax and customs exemption for 5 to 10 years.
