(Business in Cameroon) - CFAO group announced its first Cash & Carry brand (a low-cost wholesale technique) in Cameroon under the name Supeco as of this year. This was revealed by Jean-Christophe Brindeau, MD of CFAO Retail, Central and West African Partner of Carrefour supermarket group.

“The opening of 8 to 10 Supeco stores in Senegal, Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire this year represents an investment of €30 million (nearly XAF20 billion),” he said.

On the Cash and Carry segment in Cameroon, Supeco is joining the BAO brand, the first African experience in this field, officially opened on 28 March 2018 in Douala by Casino group. The latter plans a total of 10 stores in the country.

The consortium CFAO Retail-Carrefour however plans around 30 stores in each of its targeted countries (Cameroon, Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire).

Already deployed in Romania, Spain, Italy and Poland, Supeco stores cover an area of between 750 and 1,000 m², with 2,500 references, including fresh and frozen products. Targeted customers are those with low purchasing power who are used to informal trade.
