(Business in Cameroon) - Camille Moute à Bidias (photo), director of the national employment fund (FNE), and Olivier Flambard, director of the Nachtigal Hydro Power Company (NHPC), signed a partnership agreement on April 27, 2018. The aim of this agreement is to facilitate the job creation for residents of the areas where the Nachtigal dam (400MW) would be built.

In the agreement, it is stipulated that out of the 1,500 direct jobs that will be created during the construction (which will last 5 years), two-thirds will be reserved to people living within a 35-kilometer radius of this infrastructure’s site. Dozens of jobs will also be created during the exploitation phase.

In addition, the FNE promised to inform those residents of the said regions and receive their applications via the temporary offices set there.

All these measures fall in the framework of the social and environmental aspects of this project elaborated conjointly by Cameroon, EDF International, and the International Finance Corporation. The total investment for this site is estimated at about CFA690 billion.
