(Business in Cameroon) - On April 17, 2018, Hydro Mékin, which manages Mékin dam, and ENEO initiated tests to inject the energy produced by this dam into the distribution grid.

ENEO, the electricity distribution company, reveals that during the test, the teams in charge will ensure that the connection between Mékin dam and  ENEO’s distribution network is good.

According to official sources, the short-term goal of these tests that will be concluded on May 3, 2018, is to improve the availability and continual supply of electricity in Meyomessala and Sangmélima (after ENEO and Hydro Mékin reached operating agreements). In the middle-term, the energy produced will be injected into the southern interconnected system.

Let’s remind that the 15MW dam built by China National Electric & Engineering Corp (CNEEC) cost CFA25 billion and the project was funded by China. The construction project includes a 15MW dam and a 33 KM transmission line and it will help supply electricity to residents in eight communes of the Dja and Lobo departments in South Cameroon.
