(Business in Cameroon) - Ten Cameroonian engineers, specialised in civil engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, are currently in China for an accelerated training course which will last 12 months, the government daily reveals.

They will study, we learn, in the field of maintenance of equipment of hydro-electric infrastructure, prior to the commissioning scheduled for September 2017, of Memvé’élé dam, constructed in the region of South Cameroon. This infrastructure constructed by the Chinese firm Sinohydro will emit 200 MW, which will be injected into the interconnected South network, contributing thus to the reduction in energy deficiency that Cameroon experiences.

A FCfa 420 billion investment, the Memvé’élé dam, whose outflow structures are currently being constructed, is financed mainly through a loan from Eximbank China, of approximately FCfa 243 billion, against FCfa 112 billion for the AfDB and FCfa 65 billion for the State of Cameroon.
