(Business in Cameroon) - Last May 24, 2021, Serge Nguessan, AfDB’s regional director in Central Africa, officially presented his introductory letter to Cameroon’s Minister of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) Lejeune Mbella Mbella. Days earlier, the new regional director started his tour with meetings with the Ministers of Public Works and Economy.

The director was appointed in January 2021, replacing Solomane Koné. A Canadian born in Côte d’Ivoire, the new regional director is a professional with 30 years of experience in international development and portfolio management.

For nearly a decade, he has held senior representative positions at the AfDB, which he joined in 2000 as a senior architect and implementation specialist in the human development department.

Serge Nguessan holds a doctorate in regional and urban planning from the University of Montreal, Canada. He also holds a master's degree in architecture from the University of Colorado, Denver ( U.S.A.) and a civil engineering degree from École Nationale Supérieure des Travaux Publics in Yamoussoukro (Côte d'Ivoire).

"As Regional Director for the Central African region, he will also play a leading role in regional business and investment development by boosting resource mobilization in the countries under his purview and significantly strengthening the bank's operations," the AfDB said.
