(Business in Cameroon) - As of May 2018, Cameroon’s portfolio at the African Development Bank (AfDB) was CFA885 billion. This was the main information revealed by Alamine Ousmane Mey on May 29, 2018, during the solemn launch of the review process of the bank’s five-year strategy (2015-2020) for Cameroon. The minister further revealed that in 2015, the portfolio stood at CFA581 billion.

According to Alamine, the cooperation between Cameroon and AfDB stands on two main pillars namely, the development of infrastructures for an inclusive and durable growth as well as the reinforcement of sectoral governance for effective and sustainable investments.

Solomane Koné, resident representative of the AfDB, comments that since the strategy was approved, there has been notable changes in the cooperation between the pan African institution and Cameroon in terms of fund mobilization. Indeed, from an ADF country in July 2014, Cameroon has now evolved to be among the countries which can access funds at less concessional rates.

Let’s remind that according to official sources, since its creation in 1972, AfDB has provided more than CFA1,900 billion loan to Cameroon.
