(Business in Cameroon) - Following a long biological rest period (July-October 2018) set by authorities in charge of fishing activities on the Benue River, fishers can now resume activities.
According to local sources, over the past three months, households in and around the city of Garoua have had to spend a little more than usual to buy fish, because of fish scarcity subsequent to the ban which led to a price hike.
The price per kilogram of carp, for example, doubled over the period from CFA1,000 to CFA2,000. However, this situation has not yet changed since the biological rest just ended.
