(Business in Cameroon) - The customs general directorate of the Cameroonian ministry of finance and Jumia, the e-commerce operator, are now linked by a partnership agreement, official sources reveal. Thanks to that agreement, the customs authority will be able to collect goods bought via Jumia and imported in Cameroon.

This agreement grants Jumia the rights to clear imported goods on behalf of its clients and introduce in Cameroon goods ordered via its platforms in strict compliance with the customs legislation.

By signing this agreement, the Cameroonian customs expects to cash in the dynamic observed in the E-commerce sector in Cameroon. It is important to note that  most of the products imported via E-commerce platforms are not controlled by customs because of the informal imports networks.
