(Business in Cameroon) - A control mission revealed that more than 2.000 bags of rice disappeared from Cameroon's national cereal board's stores, l'Oeil Du Sahel (a regional paper published three times a week) revealed. The stores concerned are namely, the stores in the districts of Kaélé, Yagoua, Doukoula, Moutourwa, Dziguilao, and Moulvoudaye.

The same source revealed that Barthelemy Nemba, the manager of the board at Yagoua was taken into custody. According to official estimations, the total value of the bags of rice that disappeared is estimated at CFA46.7 million.

Let's remind that Cameroon's cereal board, whose headquarters is in Garoua, acts somehow as the regulator of cereal supply in the northern part of Cameroon, cereal being the main food consumed by the populations of Adamaoua, the North and the Extreme North.  Its primary mission is to collect and store cereals when harvests are good and sell them later at competitive prices during shortages.
