(Business in Cameroon) - Since 15 October 2018, a special team monitoring cars and other rolling stock's detention and circulation has been operating in the cities of Kyé-Ossi and Ambam, two localities in the southern region, bordering Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
According to the Customs Directorate of the Ministry of Finance, which reported the news October 11, this team will be working in these parts of the country until 7 November 2018. The move is to strengthen measures to combat illegal trade and vehicle smuggling between Cameroon, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
Indeed, in recent years, in addition to cosmetics and beverages, there has been a significant trade in vehicles (sometimes stolen) between the three Central African countries, with the Cameroonian city of Kyé-Ossi being a hub where cars are generally delivered to buyers from Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
