AFCON 2019: Government denounces a “flagrant injustice”

(Business in Cameroon) - Following a decision of the CAF Executive Board to withdraw the organization of the AFCON 2019 from Cameroon, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, the minister of communication said this is a “surprising decision that doesn’t really help regarding the huge investments already committed and modern infrastructure already built”.

The official calls upon Cameroonians to not give in to “sterile controversies” stressing however that Cameroon “has been the subject, from the onset, of treatment that can only raise questions.” This is “a flagrant injustice,” the minister said. Despite this decision, the Cameroonian government said works will be completed in time to prove that “Cameroon was worthy”.
