(Business in Cameroon) - In Cameroon, the IFC’s project portfolio is a bit more than XAF133 billion ($228 million), the World Bank group’s subsidiary dedicated to the private sector indicates in an official communique.
The most important project funded by the institution is Nachtigal dam in the central region. This energy infrastructure that can generate up to 420 MW after expected commissioning in 2023, will increase the country’s installed capacity by 30%.
IFC holds 20% stake in this project alongside Cameroon (15%), French EDF (40%) and investment vehicles Africa50 (15 %) and Stoa Infra Energy (10 %)
Apart from support investor in the private sector, the institution also provides consulting services to Cameroon for improvement of the business environment.
