1 killed, 6 injured in army helicopter crash in northwest

(Business in Cameroon) - One person died and 6 others were injured on May 3, after a Cameroonian army helicopter crashed in Oku, northwest region, according to a statement issued by the defense minister Joseph Beti Assomo.

The accident occurred due to “turbulent skies,” the statement assumed but “investigations are ongoing to identify real causes.” Seven people were in the aircraft including the pilot, co-pilot, flight engineer, sub-prefects of the districts of Noni, Bum and Oku as well as the interim public safety commissioner of Noni who died. The 6 others were evacuated to a hospital for appropriate medical care.

Joseph Beti Assomo expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
