(Business in Cameroon) - Crowned for the 5th time as champions in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), on 5 February in Gabon, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon were received on 8 February at the Palais de l’Unité in Yaoundé by the couple Paul and Chantal Biya.

“I would like to extend to you my warmest congratulations, as well as those of the Cameroonian population, for brilliantly winning the Africa Cup of Nations which just ended in Gabon”, declared Paul Biya. Before adding: “The message you sent us is clear. Whether you are from the north or the south, east or west, you are first and foremost Cameroonians. Whether your name is Moukandjo, Ondoa, NGadeu, Aboubakar, Fai, Bassogog or Ndip Tambe, you are first and foremost Cameroonians. Cameroonians who love their country and are ready to sacrifice to raise the flag high”.

As a response, the captain of the team Benjamin Moukandjo declared that the formal reception and exceptional welcome in their honour deeply moved them. “Thank you for your esteemed trust. This trust will remain with us every day. It will enable us to move mountains. If we stumble, support us. If we fall, raise us back up. We are your children. We are patriots”, he said as thanks.

By beating Egypt 2-1 during the 2017 AFCON in Libreville, Cameroon became the second-most decorated nation after the Pharaohs who already won the trophy seven times.
