(Business in Cameroon) - Modeste Mopa Fatoing, Managing Director of Tax Administration announced to taxpayers using the tele-declaration system, that said system now enables them to submit annual declarations (statistics and tax declarations), generate tax notifications and pay the corresponding tax amount due. In this respect, taxpayers associated with the Large Corporations Tax Division, the Medium Enterprise Tax Centres and the Tax Administration Specialised Centres are invited to send to their corresponding Tax divisions, the electronic version of their annual declarations through the tele-declaration platform.

The setting up of these new facilities of the Tax Directorate (Direction Générale des Impôts - DGI) are fully in keeping with the digitisation policy it targeted in 2016. For this purpose, from 1 June 2016 in the cities of Douala and Yaoundé, it is possible to submit an electronic fiscal declaration of property transactions. At the end of 2016, DGI announced several innovations for the year 2017. Specifically, the installation of electronic terminals for payment of income and other taxes in tax offices, as well as the creation of a facility for cash payments at bank counters ; the extension of payment of taxes by mobile phone and the set up of a system of declaration by mobile phone for small taxpayers”.

According to the tax team, it is thanks in part to the digitisation that they have been able to exceed, in 2016, their objective by 101.3%. As, the DGI for the financial year 2016 collected FCfa 1715 billion against FCfa 1585 billion initially projected. For the year 2017, the tax administration is expected to mobilise FCfa 1843 billion. This being an increase of FCfa 128 billion, compared to the previous year.
