CNPS to pay social security contributions via Mobile Money

(Business in Cameroon) - The National Social Security Fund (CNPS), the state agency in charge of social security, informs that it is in discussion with telecom operators (MTN, Orange, Nexttel) to allow the payment of social security contributions via Mobile Money.

“For the past few weeks, the CNPS teams and mobile phone operators have been working behind the scenes to implement a platform for the payment of social security contributions. The application is even in the process of being refined”  says the CNPS.

It also pointed out that the first users of this new payment method will be voluntary insureds who will avoid manual contributions and the many trips they have made in the past to meet this obligation. “All you have to do now is enter an application via a specific code and fulfil your duty towards the CNPS to receive your pension on the D-Day,” the organization indicates.

This initiative of the National Social Security Fund follows the mobile payment of family allowances, which began the day after the signing of an agreement with the operator MTN on 26 April 2018. This method is now widespread throughout the country.
