MTN Cameroon’s revenues on the data and digital services segment grew by 15% in 2017

(Business in Cameroon) - Since 2015 when 3G and 4G networks were deployed in Cameroon, data and digital services have positively affected the performance of MTN Cameroon. According to the official financial statement published by MTN group, revenues generated by MTN Cameroon on the segment, data and digital services, have increased by 15% in 2017.

The statement reveals that out of the subsidiary’s 7.1 million subscribers, a little more than 4.4 million are internet users. 3.2 million of these users are active.

As far as the progression rate of revenues generated by the data and digital services is concerned, the Cameroonian subsidiary’s progression rate is about the same as that of large subsidiaries such as Nigeria (+20%) or South Africa (+18%). By the way, this progression rate is higher than the rate in the group’s subsidiaries in Côte d’Ivoire (+4%), Uganda (+2) or Ghana (+9%).
