(Business in Cameroon) - In a recent report on CEMAC economic and financial environment, the Bank of Central African States BEAC points out the important role played by Camair-Co in the growth (0.4%) of the economic community’s tertiary sector in 2017.

According to the report, in 2017, “the growth in the tertiary sector was spurred by the market services sector (+0.3% against +1% in 2016), which was in turn supported by trade and airlines transport, notably with the rise of Camair-Co”.

For the record, in 2016 when a new management was appointed, the Cameroonian airline company which was confronted with financial and management difficulties since it was created in 2011, started implementing a recovery plan recommended by Boeing. It bought new aeroplanes, canceled the unprofitable trips such as the one to Europe. At first, it limited its flight to domestic destinations and once it covered most of the country’s region (7 out of 10) and increased the frequency of its weekly flights from 70 to 100 flights, it launched a new line to Libreville on October 27, 2017, and in December, it launched another one for Bangui, Dakar, and Abidjan.
