Cameroon: Sawn wood exports to EU up 22% YoY in Q1 2019

(Business in Cameroon) - During the first quarter of 2019, the volume of tropical sawn timber imported by European Union countries increased by 15%, the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) reported. Of the volume, Cameroon sold 60,000 tons, up 22% compared to Q1 2018; a period marked by a particularly weak export, according to ITTO.

ITTO also points out an increase in the volume sold by other tropical countries including Brazil (+66% to 34,000 tons), Gabon (+23% to 29,000 tons), Congo (+52% to 14,200 tons) and the DRC (+32% to 4,000 tons).
