Cameroon : sawn timber exports to EU rose by 5% y/y in 2018

(Business in Cameroon) - In 2018, Cameroonian exporters shipped a total of 253,400 tons of sawn wood to the European Union, an improvement by 5% compared to the volume in 2017, the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) said in its latest wood market report.

According to the international body, exports were higher in the second half of 2018 and most importantly, Africa’s biggest wood supplier to the EU collected €252 million (XAF165.3 billion) from sawn wood shipments to the region, over the period reviewed ; 25% higher than revenues in 2017, ITTO said.
